Dae was always uncomfortable on the beach. For one, he never knew what to wear. Board shorts were fine, but he wasn't the most well-built guy in town, so he usually wore a rash vest [for all you non-Aussie peeps, i don't know if you know what that means or not; Google it xD] as well as his boardies. His friends usually tried to get him to loosen up and take it off, but Dae was a very shy person and didn't like to. Of course, then the guys would rip it right off his back; he had tears in practically every waterproof vest he owned. It was much easier for girls. Of course, his girl friends would whine that boys had it easier, they could walk around shirtless any time, and that if a girl walked around shirtless everyone would go nuts, and that there was a lot of pressure to wear just a bikini, and some girls weren't comfortable with it, and the media pressured them to have supermodel bodies, blah blah blah. Dae still felt that girls had it easier. THEIR friends didn't rip their shirts off their backs. ;][/blockquote]
So it was with some tentativity that Damien Anderson stepped onto the warm golden sand of the beach. The waves lapped at the shore and the beach was practically empty. This was probably caused of the fact that a lot of the highschool kids in other grades had exams today, and it was "kids under 12 go free" day at Lakeland Zoo. So, because he neither had exams today nor was under 12, Dae was at the beach, which was free of highschool kids like himself and picnicking families. A small green backpack was clutched in one spidery hand as Dae picked his way down to an empty spot by the water. He had arranged to come here with his best friend Darcy not twenty minutes ago, so here he was, right on time, while Darcy, predictably, was late.
He dropped his backpack in the sand and sat down, bacl and white boardies covering his thighs while his black shirt covered his torso. He glanced suspiciously around the beach. It was empty, apart from some people wayyy down the other end. Dae had apparently picked the empty section of the beach. He frowned, thinking to himself. It wouldn't hurt to spend the few minutes while he was waiting for Darcy tanning, was it? Besides, no-one was here, he wouldn't be embarrassed. Dae hated showing his body, for some unknown reason. He glanced around one more time, before whipping off his shirt and laying backwards on his towel.
Wow. This was very thrilling. Dae felt like he was doing something illegal or naughty, instead of lying shirtless on the beach, probably the only place where shirtlessness was ignored. He put his arms behind his head and stretched out on his back. The tattoo of a bleeding rose etched on his wrist shone brightly in the sun, the artificially colored skin highlighted by the bright rays of light and warmth. Dae rolled onto his front, and two more tattoos were revealed; one, a larger tattoo of the same rose on his lower back, and a huge dragon with outstretched wings detailed across his shoulder blades. Dae remained in this position for a while, the sun making him sleepy, before he dozed off, forgetting he wasn't wearing a shirt.
