Character Information:
Character's Name: Augustine Emery
Age: 15
Grade: 9th
Clique: Sometimes Artsit (Künstler), sometimes a clique
of his own making
Height: 5'7"
Other Family Members: Mom, Liza; Dad, Samuel; Older Sister, Chelsea; Brother-In-Law, Joel
Personality (likes, dislikes, basically what are they like?) Augustine is fairly anti-social, tending to spend time alone or with a group of close friends. He has a difficult time trusting people, for no real reason other then he's a tad bit shy. He hates being labeled, and refuses to label others. Though he can be very naive and child like at times, Augustine has a serious side to him that most rarely see. He never allows himself to be vulnerable around strangers or people that he hasn't known for a long period of time. He was always closer with his mom, though the relationship deteriorated as her illness overtook her mind. Writing is an outlet for him, and he fills notebooks with eloquent phrases that no one reads but him. While not terribly hilarious, he sometimes says the right thing at the right time to make those around him crack a smile. When he's in the right atmosphere, he's quick to laugh. He likes feeling protected, though doesn't enjoy feeling smothered by overprotective friends. Though generally shy and quiet around people, he lets loose more around friends and family, save for his dad.

Appearance(what do they usually wear, any scars etc.) Augustine is fair-skinned and thin, his face framed by auburn hair. He desperately needs a haircut, since it has grown out into a shaggy mop that falls into his eyes. His nose is dotted by a pale smattering of freckles. His eyes are grey-blue. Augustine's face possesses somewhat effeminate features, and he's rather thin, a constant source of annoyance to his father. There is a pale scar on the skin where his neck meets his shoulder, from some childhood incident that he doesn't remember. He's partial to skinny jeans and can often be found wearing a hoodie or jacket over his band t-shirts, even in warmer weather. Footwear of choice: Chuck's. He sometimes indulges in scarfs or headbands, just for kicks.
Augustine has only one tattoo, as of yet, on his left wrist. It reads "Life is Precious Because it Ends" in elegant script.
History: Augustine Emery was born on November 12th, 1992, at a birth center in Michigan. His parents are Elizabeth Whitman-Emery, and Samuel Emery. He was named for Saint Augustine by his mother, a devout Catholic, who thought it was a beautiful name. His father agreed because he loved Elizabeth dearly. Augustine remember little about his mother before the illness, though what little memories he has are treasured. She was always funny, and sweet, and he remembers that she smelled of violets always. As he got older, though, she left her bed less and less, tending to sleep all day and ell into the night, as well. She spoke nonsense phrases and would sometimes stare at a wall for hours, barely blinking. She saw things no one else saw, but even as her situation grew more desperate, Augustine held onto a hope that she would someday return to the mom from his memories. His dad, on the other hand, is a different story. He was scarcely home when Augustine was young, and, even as Augustine grew older, Samuel rarely found time to spend with his son. He was disappointed with Augustine, who wasn't the kind of son he could build cars with and throw the old pigskin around with in the fall. Augustine's older sister Chelsea was already ten when he was born, so they were never incredibly close, though she was always somewhat protective of her baby brother, and often calls Augustine 'Pip', a nickname from when he was a baby, and she still calls him that whenever they visit. She has a daughter named Viola.
Augustine still lives with both parents in a middle-class neighbourhood.

Augustine managed to duck under the awning of the small bookstore just as the rain started, the pitter-patter of raindrops on the canvas awning growing more rapid in tempo as the storm grew. He shook his head, a few droplets from the rain that had managed to catch him jumping from his hair. quick glance at the darkening sky assured him that the weather wouldn't be letting up any time soon, so he stepped into the bookstore. It was a quiet shop, with only a few other customers milling about the aisles. Reading the signs above the sections, he strode towards one labeled 'Adult Literature'. After a few moments spent searching through the shelves, he found what appeared to be a pre-read novel by Hemingway. An accomplished smile on his lips, he moved towards the back of the store where a few customers were lounging in the provided armchairs. Choosing a worn plaid armchair, he nestled in the cushions and opened the book. soon becoming lost in the pages.
