Character Information:[/u]
Character's Name: Rocky Saunders
Age: 17
Grade: 11
Height: 5'4
Hair color: Brown
Eye color: Blue
Other Family Members: Linda Walsh(foster mother,40), Marty Walsh(foster father 41)
Personality: Shy,scared and skittish are three words that effective describe him. When he's around people that he doesn't know he'll usually try and find one person who he does know and he will then stay by them. He isn't one for crowds and he tries to avoid them as much as possible. This is because he knows that people are staring at him and he is very untrusting which makes him very uncomfortable around strangers. If he gets scared then he'll usually retreat to a place where he feels safe. Due to past experiences whenever a person raises their hand he'll flinch and brace himself for whatever is coming. He's the same way if somebody raises their voice. When he is around horses though he's a completely different person. People will find him talking to the horses like they're an old friend. Once a horse leaves him for whatever reason it takes him awhile to get over it. Some have said that he had a way with horses which might be true but he tends to just try and get to know them and figure out how the animal ticks so to speak. For a long times horses were his only friend and that is one of the reasons why his foster parents continue to bring him out to the stables. He also hates his name and wondered why his real parents named him that in the first place. It makes him wish that he had a normal name, perhaps people would treat him like a normal being then.
Another one of the things that he likes is stories, although he doesn't like to talk about his own for obvious reasons. He enjoys writing them and it was one of the things that helped him get through the dark time in his life. Whenever he was nervous or scared he'd try and think of a happy story although they were always hard to find and that was why it never really worked.
Appearance: Rocky is rather sad looking in more ways then one. His body is riddled with scars that tell the sad story of his life. His skin is very pale and he looks almost ghostly, even though he has been out in the sun a lot. Another reason for the paleness is the fact that he seems to get sick a lot more then the normal person would. His leg muscles are on the small side and there are several long scars running down them. There is a rather prominent limp in his step. He does have a very boyish appearance even though he is just about to turn eighteen in a few months. You can usually find him in a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt since he tries to hide some of the scars since they are the one thing that he can try and hide. There is usually a scared look on his face when he is around strangers.
History: He was born into a loving family in Virginia. But he never knew them, when he was just two years old they were involved in a car crash leaving their youngest son without parents. He was then put up in a foster home then and lived with a middle age couple until they were put in jail for fraud. At the age of six he was put into more foster homes but he always got shuffled around from place to place. It got him into the way of thinking that he couldn't make any friends because he would just get moved again. This went on until he had thought that he had found a permanent home with a older married couple when he was fifteen. Here he was supposed to be home schooled for some reason. A few days later he would learn the bitter truth about the only people who were now in his life. They were abuse, and not just verbally but physically as well. He didn't sleep in a bed at night he had to sleep out in the barn in a cold stall. It was during the winter months when he was out breaking ice off of the water troughs, with no gloves on that the pony slipped on the ice and fell on it's side coming right down on Rocky's right side. It took his foster parents several hours before they realized he was missing. Even then he was brought into the emergency room and it wasn't until the next day when he realized what had happened to him.
The next few months were painful yet he somehow got through it. Even though he shed a lot of tears nobody ever seen them, nobody knew about the scars which covered his body. About six months later he felt his leg literally give out and he tumbled down a hillside that was covered with boulders. Once again his foster parents brought him to the emergency room even though they were mad at him. This time it was his left leg with had broken it was also then when they discovered that his right leg hadn't healed properly. That was one of the last times he has seen a doctor. Everything went on until he was about sixteen when he left them. He couldn't take the pain anymore, the only friends that he had were the horses. It was after that when he set off for the racetrack, he knew horses so it seemed like the best place to go. He lied about his age and ended up being a groom for about a year. Nobody asked any questions and he wasn't about to tell them that he was only seventeen. It wasn't until recently when he came down with a bad case of the flu that they found out his secret. Somehow, somebody found out that he was only seventeen and he was taken away from the only place he had felt safe and put into a foster home, hundreds of miles away from his past. They decided that he should be held back, after all he had went a whole year without schooling. [/size]
