[[ooc: do you want to make a different post in the park forum or just stay here?]]
eggnogiscool47: okay, see ya there
She shut her lap top with a slight snap, and placed it gently on her bedside table. Maya pulled on an old pair of jeans and a plain black sleeveless top. She sighed, and glanced around her room for anything else she might need.
Maya's eyes settled on her cellphone, but she shook her head, and brushed dark hair out of her eyes, pulling a couple strands back behind her head and fastening them with a hairclip. She was satisfied with herself, and left her room, startled by the brightness of the rest of the house. "I'm going out mmkay mom?" she said, still squinting slightly.

((Might as well stay here.))
He read her last message but didn't reply to it, but five minutes after he had logged off he realized that he actually should have told her where exactly to meet him at the park. Oh well, it was too late now and most likely she had logged off too. He looked around for a moment before he spotted his jacket and once again he thought about brining it along but once again decided not to. He then made his way downstairs and looked around the house for a moment as he tried to think of something that he might need. Of course, he knew that he probably should bring his cell phone along with him in case somebody tried to call him. Most likely it would be Jordan calling him to ask where the heck he was. Of course that would only happen if he got off early and he didn't think that was about to happen. But, just to be on the safe side he grabbed his cell phone and shoved it into his pocket.
When he got outside he faced his next decision, should he drive or walk in the rain? That answer was obvious in a way, if he walked then he'd be able to enjoy the rain hitting him. It wasn't that cold and off in the distance he could see some small children out playing in the rain. At least he wasn't the only person out in the rain at the moment. He then turned and began to make his way toward the park. It was rather refreshing being out in the rain instead of being cooped up in the house. He was glad that he'd decided to meet somebody in the park. Besides, it wasn't like they were going to attack him although he hoped that they wouldn't hate him after meeting him in person. Of course he really didn't think that would happen but there was always the chance. Before he knew it the park was up ahead of him and as soon as he entered it he looked around for a moment before standing there watching the rain fall down.
((bad post but I have a huge headache.))

Maya swung out her door, and grinned at the sudden rush of warm rain that met her. It clouded her vision slightly, obstructing her view. The rain was quite hard, and it pounded down on the pavement with unexpected force. She sighed, and began the short walk to the park, taking her time about it. She gazed up at the sky, where warm sunshine shown through the thin layer of stratus, and smiled. It was an eerie light, one that made a person squirmy and uncomfortable. Beams of sunlight shown through the thin parts of the clouds, projecting a greenish-gold light over everything it cast itself upon. There was a light breeze to, a warm humid breeze that just barely swept over the Maya's head, tousling her hair slightly, and making her glance up to the sky once more.
Maya picked up her pace, realizing that she had been doddling, just watching her surroundings with thoughtful eyes. She turned the corner on to the street that the park was located off of. It was a wonder to her how second nature the short trek to the acres of green land that made up the park had become to her. How it had become almost like a second home, somewhere she went simply to think, and figure out the turns her life had taken in the latest.
He saw a figure, waiting tentatively at the gate, and picked up her pace, excited now. Maya was still a little bit baffled as to how she had ended up meeting Brendon Erikson, one she had vowed to hate, in a park. Again, she sighed somewhat indifferently, and peeled one arm off of her already soaking side to wave.

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed somebody waved and then turned to look at them. It was then that he realized that it must be Maya since he'd never seen the girl that was waving at him before. Well, this was it and there was no way he could turn back from things now not that he wanted to. Since he was curious about this girl and wanted to prove to her that he didn't only care about himself. He'd never been that way and couldn't stand to be friends with somebody that was like that. Of course, from his own experiences people like that tended not to have too many friends since they didn't care about anybody except for themselves. He then returned her wave and then made his way over to where she was. The rain was coming down harder then what he had expected but it was fine. Of course, he knew that if it started to storm that they would have to go somewhere else. Since there was no way he'd be caught out in a storm.
"So, I take it you're the person who I'm looking for?" He said curiously before looking around the park, she had to be the person that he was looking for since there was nobody else even around. He'd seen a ton of rain soaked people in different shops on the way down here and apparently everybody had went inside to try and get away from the rain. Didn't they know that they'd have to go out in the rain again once they left? Or perhaps they thought that if they stayed in there long enough that the rain would stop and everything would be fine.
((bad post but I'm off to go try and get my muse back.))

She nodded. "Yep, I believe so." Maya stood for a moment, shifting her weight from one foot to the next. "Perfectly dreary day out today isn't it?" she said, her tone light and ironically cheery. "It really makes a person happy." Maya paused and glanced upward, then back at Brendon. She had never studied his face, simply just pushing by him at school, mostly disgusted with his actions. She sighed and watched the rain, feeling it beat down upon her shoulders, like a massage. "I love the rain," she breathed, not even really meaning to speak aloud. She brushed passed him, and spun around, arms suspended in mid air, face turned toward the sky.
She stopped, and turned back toward him, grinning. Water coated her dark hair, and caused it to stick to her face. She peeled a few strands off her soaking forehead and smiled, cocking her head slightly as she faced him. "Want to go swimming?" The request sounded much odder out loud than it had in Maya's head, but she forced the grin to stay on her face, and waited hesitantly for his answer.

"Oh yeah, it just makes a person want to do cartwheels when a day like this comes along. Actually, it makes we want to feel like a little kid and go out and run around in the rain. Which is exactly what you convinced me to do." He said and then smiled at her, he was in a good mood and now that he actually had somebody to talk to he knew that she probably might end up thinking that he acted like a little kid all of the time and that wasn't true. Usually it was Jordan who ended up acting like a little kid sometimes but that usually only happened if he ate a ton of sugar or something. Either that or he was really excited and he'd just gotten used to the two of them chasing each other around the house and doing odd things like that at times. He heard her comment about the rain and wondered if she was talking to herself or to him. "Yeah, so do I..well sometimes anyway. I don't like it when the rain is freezing or when you're in the middle of a football game and it starts to pour." He said and then shivered at the thought of last years football game when it had started to pour and the rain had been so cold it felt like it was ice.
"Swimming in the rain, it does sound temping doesn't it? So why not it's not like we're not wet already. Just remind me to take my cell phone out of my pocket. Where are we going swimming then anyway?" He asked and then wondered where exactly she was planning on going swimming. Sure there was a river that ran though the park but there were other places too. In a way, she was like Jordan now since he was the one who thought up things like that. Of course, he usually was the one who thought of the interesting things to do. Like the time that they'd been at the beach and decided to swim out to the middle of the lake and back when it was getting dark out. It wasn't that hard to do and it didn't matter that it was getting dark out, how could you get lost in a lake anyway? Eventually if you just swam in one direction you would hit land in some shape or form. "That is a very good idea and not to mention I haven't went swimming in the rain for awhile." He said and then looked around again, was everybody else afraid of the rain?

Maya smiled, obviously pleased with his answer. "Now, I'm glad you've asked. When your friendless and still relatively new here, it helps to wander a park, just taking note of all around you." Maya glanced at the rain sodden path, the concrete darkened slightly by its light coating of water. She watched as each footprint squelched up a little bit of water, as if trying to escape the soles of her vans. She walked evenly, strides long and purposeful. It was clear she knew exactly where to go on this dreary day.
Maya glanced behind her, to make sure he was following. She took a winding path one direction for quite a while, then turned sharply to the left, and followed an uphill dirt trail. It led into a secluded forest, with age old pines standing, casting huge shadows on the path beneath them. Because of this, the little grove of a trees was quite a bit cooler than the rest of the park, but it was still quite pleasant out. It seemed they walked for quite a while, but soon Maya stopped, almost abruptly. Just between the trees, the sparkle of water was barely detectable. Raindrops broke its glass like surface, interrupting the stillness and serenity of the lake.
Maya pushed through the trees, beckoning him to continue following her. Finally, the thick pine branches ended and they came upon a clearing, miles of fields on the far side, and the trees back behind them. Stretched out for perhaps a few miles was an epic lake, made light blue by the clean sand on its floor. Maya couldn't suppress a grin. It was just how she remembered it when she had arrived a year before. The clear waters swept lightly onto the shore in gentle waves, and even though the rain beat down as hard as ever, birds sang, and Maya could distinguish the song of a red wing black bird, its crimson splayed body darting in and out of the cattails on the far side. She smiled up at him, sighing dreamily.
"This is it," she said, whispering, almost afraid to break the natural sounds of the lake with her own human voice. "It's like bathtub water too. So warm." Maya stood for a moment, watching the lake with a look of adoration on her face. Then, with a devilish grin she began wading in, stripping to a tank top.
Then, with a fleeting look, she dived in, feeling the water rush at her face, feeling her hair fly back, slow her decent slightly. She opened her eyes, and the blurred scene before her was of baby powder white sand, minnows fleeting back and fourth, fleeing from her modified breast stroke. She felt her lungs begging for air, and came up, glancing at Brendon. Her hair framed her face, and droplets of water cascaded from her long lashes "Come on in," she said with a smile.

He began to follow her and after awhile of walking her realized where they were going. He hadn't came out to the particular lake that they were going to in a long time. Not since Mike had been alive and that was about two years ago. Of course, it wasn't because he had memories connected to this lake that he didn't go out here. It was because he had almost forgotten that the lake was even there. Which was rather sad since now that he thought about it he'd been all over the park lately and had never once thought about going back to the lake. So it would be a nice change of scenery to go out there again. He knew that there probably was only a few people that knew about this lake and that was a good thing. Since if a ton of people knew that the lake was here then they might come out and completely trash it. The clean sand and lake was what made it special, and not to mention how warm it was all of the time.
Once they stopped at the lake his eyes wandered around. This place seemed as beautiful as the last time he'd been out here. Everything was so calm and peaceful, he'd have to remember to come out here more often. Since it probably was a nice place to just sit and think. He then watched as Maya waded in before diving underneath the water before she surfaced. "Alright, just give me a second." He said and then dug his cell phone out of his pocked at tossed it near a tree before peeling his wet t shirt off and tossing it next to it. There, now he wasn't about to forget to grab his cell phone. After doing the same thing with his shoes he waded into the water before diving underneath. The water seemed really warm compared to the cold air that he'd just came out of. His eyes looked around at the lake bottom before he finally came up and then swam over to where Maya was. This place was great, and he was very glad that things had turned out the way they had.
"It's as beautiful out here as it was the first time I came out here. I haven't been out here in about two years though. This water is nice though, and not to mention there's not a ton of people around tossing trash everywhere." He said before diving underneath the water again. He then swam a few circles around Maya before coming up. "It feels like we're completely cut off from the rest of the world doesn't it?" He asked and hoped that she wouldn't think that he was crazy for saying such a thing. It was then that he felt a fish swim past him and in the process it's scales brushed his leg slightly. A tiny shiver ran down his spine, he wasn't afraid of fish it just wasn't the most pleasant feeling in the world having a fish brush against you.

"It does doesn't it," she said, the same crooked smile on her face now, as she had had when she had dove into the crystal clear water. She dived in again, purposely splashing water in his face, then emerged, eyes sparkling with droplets of water. She touched his muscled shoulder. "Your it," she said, grinning, feeling 11 years old again. She dove under water, keeping her eyes open and watching the spray rush by. The sandy bottom of the lake slopped steadily downward until it was near twenty feet deep. She emerged once more, tredding water all the while with a wide content smile on her face. She took a huge breath, filling her lungs with air, then dove, pointing her arms and keeping her legs together. She swam, eel like, to the bottom of the pond, feeling her lungs about burst. Her instincts told her she needed to breath, and she felt dizziness creeping at the edges of her vision.
She lunged upward, staring only at the grayish sky, visible through the pristine water. When she finally reached the top of the lake, she took huge breaths, clearing her lungs of the aching that had plagued her underwater. What she would give to breath under water, to be able to stay beneath the clear blue water for as long as she pleased, and not be pained by the need to take a breath. She sighed, noticing vaguely that the rain had begun to letup slightly.
She waited, almost apprehensively, and took quick dives, taking huge gulps of breath every time she surfaced. She loved this lake. She felt at home in this lake. Nothing ever troubled her in this serene setting of clear water and swamp life.

He felt her tag him and then wondered if she was like this all of the time. Did it matter to him, well not really since he was prone to being involved in different games. As a matter of fact, a group of friends and him ended up playing hide and seek at the park on different occasions. Now they didn't play in broad daylight mind you, they played at ten or eleven o'clock at night. It amazed him that could squeeze into certain things he never would have imagined that he would be able to fit into a tunnel that seemed really big for a little kid, and rather small for him. Yet, people hadn't even found him right away and he was one of the last people to actually be found. Meanwhile, Jordan had been a few feet away from him hiding underneath a bunch of bushes. He knew that he should probably go under the water and look for her but he'd been daydreaming for a moment but finally, he slipped underneath the water.
It took a split second for his eyes to adjust but as soon as they did he spotted her and the tried to catch up to her. Of course, she had about a ten second head start but somehow he managed to cut the distance between them in half. But as soon as he did that she came above the water. He then moved about three feet away from her before coming out of the water. "I must say, you are a very good swimmer." He said before tapping her on the shoulder and quickly slipping underneath the water. He wondered how long this little game would go on, he wasn't ready to quit and he didn't think that Maya was either. She was about as hard to catch as Jordan was in the water and that made her good competition. Just as long as a beaver or something didn't decide to come out then everything would be just fine. He'd had a rather bad experience with one once and ever since he hadn't liked the animals that much. Actually, his brother didn't take to them either.
After swimming around for a few moments he came above the water long enough to quickly take more air in before slipping underneath the water once again. He looked around while he was underneath the water for a moment, there were fish swimming around and there also was a wide variety of underwater plants. He couldn't remember the names of any of them since it had been two years since he'd taken biology and the weird names of the plants hadn't stayed in his mind. Besides, he wasn't thinking about being a biologist anyway. Actually, his dad had basically told him that he was going to take over the family banking business. It was then that he came above the water again before looking around.

Maya paused for a moment, slightly out of breath. She loved this water. She loved acting as if she were a child again, and playing old games like tag and Marco Polo. This secluded pool of crystal water was the only place she could shed her dignified self, and let loose. She took a huge breath, and dove under again, skimming the bottom of the pool with a smile on her face. She greatly enjoyed the time she spent beneath the water, and savored the feel of the warm sand rubbing up against her bear stomach, and the minnows flitting by, parting in fear as she swam through them.
Maya swam on, feeling the bottom of the lake even out beneath her and begin to slope upward. She was running out of breath, and the bubbles coming from her nose ran thin. She almost forgot about the boy that was a little ways away, sharing the euphoria that came from laying submerged in the lake. It gave her the opportunity to think, and after a brief emerge for more air, she let herself float back to the bottom, hair suspended all around. She had an expression of up most thoughtfulness, and sat cross-legged on the lake flour. She thought. Thought about whether she would ever truly find someone that was willing to deal with her, and look at her as if she were crazy. She thought about whether or not she was settling in, and wondered simply if she would every truly belong in this small city.
Yet here was a complete stranger, willing to spend his afternoon with her. She thought reasonably for a moment, realizing that he probably had nothing better to do, but still, he could have said no. Maya felt her lungs beg for air, and waited a moment before returning to the surface and taking a huge breath. She tredded water again, slightly distracted from her thoughts.
