Ah yes, life was at quite a low at this moment, as Karina Hay sat, a bottle clutched in her fist, staring at her computer screen. Alcohol and computers don't mix, she had long since learned. Yet she couldn't prevent herself from feeling the need to talk to another she knew. She could always call Jake, but she'd been keeping drunken phone rants to a minimum, as she knew he was inevitably busy with school. So perhaps, if she was lucky she would meet him on line, as she hoped. However slim the chances, she was extremely serene at the moment. "I'm... in a happy place," she had said a little bit sleepily to her roommate who had come home from class in the afternoon to find her in the exact spot she was now, though the flow of alcohol had steadily ebbed. Now it was completely legal for Karina to be drinking, and she was neither a drunk, nor ever planned to be one, but today was different. An enormous war had been lost. One that she'd never really taken a part in. She'd just assumed it would blow over. After all, Galen had had girlfriends before... that Anna girl... a couple other 2 month flings in middle school. But nothing like this. Karina leaned back on her pillows groaning than laughing feebly. Oh, how her head would ache in the morning. But it was almost worth it to feel so incredibly cheerful and serene at a moment when not under the influence of several beers, she would've been going nuts and throttling random people on the street. So perhaps it was actually good she was so drunk at the moment.
Her hair was mussed, and the stale scent of alcohol lingered on her breath. Baggy stripped pajama bottoms clad her bottom half, and on her top half a lilac tank top hung closely to her slender frame. Smudged mascara ran down her face, as if she had a black eye in the shape of a splatter on the ground. Yes, it was obvious she'd been crying. But now the exhausted young woman couldn't care less. She rubbed her eyes and leaned back into her pillows, shutting her eyes. She just wanted sleep to come. But not really. It was only seven, and Karina expected her roommates back any minute now. As if on command, the sound of a key turning in a lock caused her to roll over and stare out the door, despite her head that had begum to pound slightly.]"Hey Kar, you alright?" came a voice that seemed too far away to simply be across the small room. "Yeah... had a little... a little too much to drink," she said, squinting at the spot approximately where she expected her roommate was standing. "Just... just a little..." She rolled over again. "I'll just stay in... and relax." Yup, yup, sounded good. She opened her mac with weak fingers, and clicked into her chat program. Knowing somehow nothing good could come out of what she was doing, she logged in.
