[[If we only had a way to make it all fall faster everyday. ]] Melanie walked into the club, the stench of alcohol strong in the air. New to this club ,Mel looked around for someone she knew, her mind full of things that she needed to be rid of. Partying all night long, sleeping all the next day was something that Mel would not usually do, but at the moment, there was nothing else in her life that could be more interesting.. Normally, she would meet up with some friends and go out, but none of her close friends had been seen recently, and Mel always liked to meet new people. Something needed to be done to get James out of her mind. Her, well now ex boyfriend, had pretty much disappeared off the side of the earth, and after months of her missing him, he had returned for a short period of time, with a new girlfriend in tow. Mel wasn’t the sort that would take something like that easily, and she had been upset for a while now. That had been over a month ago, and now she was just out to have a good time. The music was loud, and quick, and the floor was vibrating slightly as Mel’s heeled feet crossed the floor. She crossed it, lonely, watching the people on either side, dancing, chatting, sitting, drinking, all pretty much in small groups. She walked up to the bar and waited for the bartender to come over. After ordering she took her drink to an empty table and sat down, resting her elbow on the table, with her face in her palm. Now she was beginning to think this was a stupid idea coming here, alone. Nobody would probably come and sit next to her. Picking up her drink in her slender hand, she sipped, and waited. Mel attire at the moment was not really simple, but it wasn’t heaps over the top. A top dress with buttons was sitting on her top half, and it was grey in colour, clung to her skinny figure. Skinny legged jeans were worn under this, and striped lime green and black kitten heels with a bow and open toe were worn. A beaded necklace and bracelet were worn around her throat and wrist, and her hair was straight and out, with her side fringe partially clipped back. Her makeup wasn’t extreme, but she had put some effort into her makeup, her eyelids shadowed dark, traced lightly in eyeliner, her lips were glossed, and, all over it looked well with her efforts in other places. Now she felt really stupid in this club by herself, and, her head beating, she waited for somebody to hopefully join her?

[Keep me safe inside,] [Your arms like towers,] [Tower over me]
Hot tears ran down her face as Jack slid down into the icy depths of the water, his beautiful face sinking out of view. His eyes were closed, and she would never look into them again. He was gone.
Titanic was such a sad movie.
Riley sniffed and pressed a tissue to her soaked cheeks and watched as Rose shivered in the cold, now alone and surrounded by dead on her door. It was near the end of the movie, and Riley was holed up in her bedroom, dressed in her Mickey Mouse pyjamas, bundled up in her quilt. It was about 7:45 pm, and Riley Addison had no friends, nowhere to go, nothing to do. Athena had floated out the door a couple of hours ago, looking very dolled up. Riley suspected some nookie with Felix, but she hadn't said anything. ;] Their non-existant other roommate, Malory, had magically appeared one day and checked out, so now it was just Riley and Athena in the room. Which was very good news. Two best friends in the same room with no other strangers? They could trash the place as much as they wanted. Plus, they had two spare beds, which meant Felix and Ryan could stay over, which was an added bonus in both girls' books. ;]
Yes, there was no secret now. Michael Ricci, Riley's estranged boyfriend, had out-of-the-blue suddenly moved to Africa, leaving behind a bewildered Miss Addison. Athena and Riley hadn't yet talked about the possibilities with a certain Ryan Carson, but Riley could see the knowing gleam in her friend's eye. Truth be told, she hadn't told Ryan about Michael's departure yet. If she was honest, she was scared. She hadn't seen Ryan in a matter of months now, and a failed AIM conversation awoke her inner girly fears. What if Ryan had run off with a new girlfriend? This thought was always on Riley's mind, so she thought it best to leave him be and let him come to her.
Of course, we all know she's going to snap and go to his house, because otherwise where would the plot go?
She switched off the movie now, because it was at the boring ending, where Rose hides from her future husband and eventually dies in her sleep at the age of 101, dreaming of her and Jack reuniting. Riley had seen the ending way too many times, plus she had run out of tears, plus an idea had just occurred to her. She got out of bed and went straight to the shower, shedding her pyjamas on the way. Jumping under the hot water, she let it splash onto her face, sighing heavily. Grabbing the shampoo, she began to wash her new hair. By new hair, I mean the fact that recently Riley had made the huge jump from blonde to red, and by red I mean orange. Why is it redhead anyway? None of them actually have RED hair. Why not orangeheads? Anyway, she had felt like a change, and her long blonde locks with their straight fringe across her forehead had been dyed and cut into a choppy style with a spunky side fringe. She loved the new colour but was still getting used to it. Change is good, like they say.
After drying herself off, Riley dressed quickly in a pair of black skinny legs and pulled on a black hoodie with LOVE printed on it in white. Slipping her small feet into some stunning red shiny heels, she blowdried her hair and left it down, quickly putting on some night-time makeup, meaning mascara and some shiny eyeshadow. She slipped her phone, dorm keys, wallet, ID, and lipgloss into her red clutch that matched her shoes. Striding confidently out the door, which was quite impressive in towering wedges that made her a 5'5" and not a 5'3", Riley locked the dorm door and made her way to the Red Sunset. She would not mope around her dorm tonight. Ryan or no Ryan, Athena or no Athena, she would have fun.
This was not fun. Riley had been standing in line for ages. She pouted, shifting her weight. Finally she was let in. Entering the club, she was suddenly struck with a sense of 'WTF-am-I-doing-here?'-ness. Seeing the bar, and seeing a lonely-looking girl sitting at it by herself, Riley walked over. Sliding into a bar stool next to the girl, she set down her clutch and ordered a Bacardi and Coke. Smiling awkwardly at the very pretty girl, Riley introduced herself. Hey, maybe this chick was as lonely as she was and they could become friends. Who knows? ;]
"Hi. I'm Riley."

[[ Just the one two of us is counting on]] This was turning into a night from hell. Mel was starting to think that this night, would have been better off if she had just stayed in her dorm. At least there she would of had some company, instead of nobody at all here. Even though her room mates didn't usually talk to her often, and they weren't the most friendliest people towards her, she then atleast wasn't looking stupid, all alone, in a bar that she didn't know one person. Well, one person that had come to talk to her. Well, that had all changed in a matter of minutes. One minute, Mel was sitting on her own, in a daze of what the heck am I doing here, to something more like, oh, okay, someone decided to sit with me. But Mel's friendly personality shone through, and, she felt happy to see the red haired girl move into the stool next to her. Red haired girl, no wait, Riley, as she had just introduced herself, semed friendly enough, and Mel had come out this night to have fun, she wasn't just going to sit here and do nothing, was she? "Hi.. I'm Mel."Mel began, thinking of what else to say without scaring the girl off, or making her think she was some sort of wierdo that started firing off her life story infront of complete stangers. Mel hoped that this girl and her wouldn't be strangers for long though, and that they could become friends. Who really knows? "So, are you meeting anyone here?"She asked the girl carefully. She didn't want that question to sound like she was some type of pervert, asking her if she were alone tonight. Mel was far from that sort of person. She was really just trying to make conversation, but she wasn't the best at starting one. Following Riley's lead, she sipped her previous drink dry, and ordered a Bacardi and Coke. She hadn't had one of those for a while, but then again, she hadn't been out for a while too. Letting her chocolate brown orbs look over the girl, she noticed how pretty she actually was. She couldn't but help think if this girl had a boyfriend, and then this bought back thoughts of James. Dammit. Tonight was for forgetting him, geting wasted, and not remembering it the next morning. xD Her foot tapped along with the song which was pumping the club. Feeling an unusal need to dance, she decided that after she had found out something about the girl, and had a few more drinks, she would make it out onto the floor, hopefully with Riley in tow so she wasn't a complete loner. [[ Shaaam this post is icky. I lost the muse. =(]]

[Secrets don't make friends...]
Riley sipped her Bacardi/Coke with a very innocent look on her face. A few seconds into the sip, however, and her face screwed up in disgust. It always took her a while to get used to the drink. She hadn't had a Bacardi and Coke for a while, and if you didn't drink them, say, once or twice a week, you forgot the taste and it was just like drinking a funny-tasting Coke. She shook her head slightly and the taste settled in her mouth. She smiled at this stranger... wait, no longer a stranger. Mel. It was a pretty name. Riley guessed it was short for Melanie, and the brown-haired girl sitting next to her looked like a Melanie. It was a good choice in name for her. Riley mentally commended Mel's parents for their wise decision.
"Nice to meet you, Mel. And no, actually, I'm alone tonight. I would have someone with me tonight, if my two best friends hadn't ditched me. One's off with her boyfriend and the other... well, let's not get into the story with Ryan. It's way too long and complicated. Haha, do you have a couple hours spare? Nah, I'm joking. I'm rambling. Sorry. What about you?"
Riley nattered on happily, not realizing she should probably calm down before she scared Mel away. She apologized quickly and asked Mel the same question. Conversation. Good. Conversations were the building blocks to a friendship, and there was something about this Mel that Riley liked. She just seemed very approachable and friendly. Plus she was wearing a really cute outfit that Riley was dying to steal. ;]
The atmosphere in Red Sunset was sometimes too over-the-top, filled with scene kids from Myspace, dressing in their best and coming down just to tell people that they 'went to a club on Friday night'. Luckily tonight wasn't too stuffy - of course there was the usual groups of camera-sleepers; in the corner there were your goths; there was a lot of generally normal people; and even a few nerds were scattered about. It was just another motley crue of party-goers, and although people say that they 'hate labels' and believe that 'everyone should be individual', you all know you look at someone and put them in a category. It's a natural human instinct, to categorize things and people. Riley's thoughts and ponderings about the selection of people gathered at Red Sunset tonight seemed a little harsh, even to her - the words like nerds, goths, emos seemed a little too grating in her mind - it was just the natural order of things.
But now I'm rambling. =] Riley turned her attention back to Mel, but couldn't help her eyes roving over the slim girl's outfit. Skinny jeans under a gray dress with striped kitten heels - this girl had a real sense of style. She looked like a good person to go shopping with, and although Riley had her never-ending shopping partner in Athena, you could never have too many bargain buddies.
It's a girl thing. ;]
Riley realized that she looked like she was checking Mel out, and not wanting to look like a perving lesbian, she spoke up.
"Sorry, but I just can't help myself. WHERE did you get that dress?! It's gorgeous!"

][[ So why can't you stay just long enough to explain?]]
Mel watched the bartender intently. It must be pretty busy job, rushing around, getting everybody’s orders, and by the time you had got around everyone, the first person wanted their second round, so your cycle just started over. When he finally arrived with her order of her Bacardi/Coke, she smiled slightly at the poor guy. But the guy didn’t smile back, just gave her a glare type stare. She felt like picking up the drink he had just served her, and throwing it in his face. She had, at least, just being nice. But she decided against it. May as well just drink it. Her hand rounded the glass, and she felt the unusual shape of the glass. Raising her glass to her lips, she screwed up her face at the unusual taste. Blah. It wasn’t that nice. It reminded her how long ago she had last been out drinking, and then, it kind of made sense that you needed to be more accustom to the taste. That would come as the night drew on.
Smiling as she listened to Riley babble on, it reminded her of someone else she knew. Herself. She tended to go on and on about things that were slightly irrelevant to the time. But that didn’t bother Mel, she just knew it was part of her bubbly personality. And it seemed that Riley was a pretty bubbly person too. A very nice rounded friendship could come from this, and you could probably never shut the pair up when they were together. =]
”I do actually. I was kinda hoping that I would meet someone here to waste the night away with, since James..”
She started, and quickly stopped. Dammit. She wasn’t even supposed to be thinking about him, let alone talking about him. Now Riley was bound to ask questions. All well. A conversation amounted from one thing to another, and she was pretty all good now with talking about James. She had honestly thought she loved him, a lot, and when he just come back with that pretty little blonde in tow, it had actually broken her heart into two pieces. But she was now recovering, after plenty of nights watching moves and eating chocolate in bed at home. Even though she wasn’t completely over him, things were beginning to recover.
She realized that for a few minutes she had been staring at her dress. She must look like a dickhead, just sitting there, while Riley sat beside her, chatting away, probably feeling awkward because of the complete idiot sitting beside her off in a trace. Smiling, she turned to look at Riley, her eyes apologetic, but sparkling. Mel’s eyes were pretty much always sparkling, especially if she was enjoying herself. Hearing Riley ask the question of her dress, she thought for a few seconds before answering.
”Umm, I think its from a shop in town. I can’t remember the shop, but its got really awesome dresses and tee-shirts, do you know the one? Ohh, where did you get your hoodie from?”
She replied, and then asked Riley a question of her own. The ooh was quite and excited ooh, she rather liked the LOVE hoodie. It was cute, and look really good on Riley. It probably wouldn’t suit Mel though. She hated that, when she really loved one of her friends clothes, and then when she tried it on, it looked stupid. Picking up her drink again, she took a sip while she waited for Riley to reply.

[Why oh why you wear sunglasses in the house when] [The sun went down an hour ago,]
A slim eyebrow was raised at the mention of the name 'James' and Riley looked intrigued as Mel seemed to mentally kick herself at the slip. The small orange-haired girl opened her mouth to ask who James was, then bit her lip and stopped. Obviously there was something about this 'James' character that Mel didn't like; perhaps an ex-boyfriend or something? Riley wasn't sure, but she didn't think Mel would appreciate Riley sticking her nose into private business. She occupied herself by taking a sip of her drink and smiled reassuringly at her new friend.
Could she call Mel a friend? She definitely wanted to; Mel seemed like a cool person to hang around with, but ten minutes of conversation didn't really seem like enough of a foundation. Riley's wandering attention was brought back to the James slip - she knew how Mel felt. She herself had slipped on the Ryan subject.
God damn! Why did she feel so guilty? It wasn't like his name was taboo or anything. Technically, she had every right to go ahead and do whatever she wanted with Ryan, because now there was no more Michael to complicate things. But she couldn't. She would never do anything to damage their relationship, it meant too much to her. But technically-
It suddenly occurred to Riley that she was sitting in silence. Then it suddenly occurred to Riley that both her and Mel were sitting in silence. Lost in their own thoughts, much? She smiled feebly and opened her mouth to say something when Mel spoke before she could. Riley looked down at her hoodie. It was true, it was a good hoodie. She loved it and would be devastated if she ever lost it. She smiled at Mel and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before answering.
"I don't think I have. You'll have to take me there sometime. And thanks. Have you ever heard of 'To Write Love On Her Arms'? It's like a charity clothing range and all the proceeds go towards helping people who self harm. I'm a big supporter, I love their clothes. They have T-shirts and hoodies and everything, and they're just so cute. Plus it's a good cause, so it's win-win, isn't it?"
And there she went again. A phrase Ryan used a lot floated into her head, and she smiled. MotorMouth. Well, Riley certainly was one. She shut up and grinned apologetically at Mel, noting that Mel's long brown hair was really, really shiny. A weird thing to notice, but Riley always took notice of people's hair. And Mel's was very shiny. Riley made a mental note to ask her what shampoo she used. ;]
[OOC__ A shitty post if I ever wrote one. Sorry. No muse.]
