Did he normally walk around the park just to think about things? Well, the answer was yes but he wasn't alone since he had his dog with him. Lucky was a one year old black Labrador Retriever who sometimes had a mind of his own. That was the reason why he was on a leash and not running, well that and the fact that there was a leash law. He could remember how long it had taken him to teach the dog not to come when he was called. That was something that Brenden's nine week old puppy knew. Of course Brownie was a very easy do to train and didn't go off and do things that he wasn't supposed to do. A few months ago he'd let Lucky run in the woods and the dog had came back to him with a face full of porcupine quills. Sometimes he wondered what got into the dogs mind after all, didn't he know not to try and play with a porcupine or did he think it was another dog or something? "You know Lucky, you should just be happy you're not Brenden's dog. He wouldn't put up with your little stunts and not listening." He said and then looked down at the dog how was happily waling alongside him.
He had just gotten done with work so he was covered in sawdust and he was wearing a pair of jeans that had flecks of white pain on them. His dad owned a construction company and he worked there a lot. He hadn't called Brenden to tell him that he was done since he knew that he was probably off in the woods or something. So he would call him in about an hour or so and the two would probably go off and do something together. Actually, tonight would be the perfect night to go out to the beach and perhaps do a little night swimming. People said that it was odd how they looked like twins and how they seemed to know what the other was thinking. He didn't think it was odd since they had been spending a lot of time around each other for two years now and they knew a lot of things about the other that most people didn't know and would never find out. What was funny was the fact that they'd switched shirts during the school day last year and nobody had even noticed.
Right now he could use somebody to talk to though. Since he was in a talkative mood and Lucky really couldn't answer him back. All the dog could do was bark and wag his tail. His brown eyes scanned the park and tired to find somebody that he knew. Yet the only people that were in sight were elderly people walking around. Shouldn't there be somebody who was about his age in the park? After all it was only one o'clock in the afternoon.

Ah boy the park. Now although some people wouldn't be caught dead walking the park alone on a day like this one, Helena was all for it. She had done this type of thing all the time back at her old town. Ah how much she missed London and all that it had to offer her- But she guessed that this place had just as much to offer than any other. The optimistic teenager walked through the park, her tinny hands in the pockets of her torn jeans, as she strolled along. You know, she never strolled. She was always walking fast, trying to get here on time and rushing there. It actually felt kind of awkward walking around so slowly. Helena was almost afraid that she would be stopping up traffic or something just by taking her time.
Just to make sure that she wasn't in fact stopping traffic, Helena turned around self- conciously. No one there except for a boy and his dog. Helena smiled at them both and waved, thinking for some reason that maybe they could become best friends and share every waking moment together, not in that friends with benifits way. Well sometimes the girl's mind goes a bit crazy, going into the near future and hoping for the best. You can't honestly tell me that you've never looked at a person and hoped you would end up being friends, now can you?
Helena had waved, which means that maybe she should stop? But maybe since she had waved it was just supposed to be one of those wave a go type of things. Or maybe she should have just- Ugh, maybe she just shouldn't have waved at all if she thought it was goign to be this difficult. But hey, somtimes with friends things have to be difficult eh? Helena decided on her first thought- She should stop and wait for the fellow.... Plus his dog as well. Helena hoped that everything would fall into place.

He noticed a girl waving at him, should he know her? The more that he studied her for a moment as he tired to figure out if he should know who this girl was or not. After deciding that she was a new person he figured that he might as well go up to her and start talking to her. After all, there was nothing else to really do. Besides, Lucky had spotted the girl and now the dog was looking that direction and he could tell that he really wanted to go up to the girl. Lucky was a very people friendly dog and whenever somebody new came to the house when the dog was inside he would run up to the door and greet whoever was there. Luckily, most of the people liked dogs so they were not afraid when the black dog ran up to them and wanted to be petted. "What do you say Lucky, I'm up for a little conversation so we might as well go over there and say hello." He said to the dog and then made his way over to the girl was. Hopefully she wouldn't mind his appearance since he didn't run around wearing jeans with spots of paint on them all of the time.
Once he got within about five feet of her he stopped, even though Lucky wanted to get closer to her. Sometimes the dog could be a problem but he was fairly sure that the girl didn't mind dogs after all she had waved to him which meant that she wanted him to talk to her right? Usually it was Brenden who decided who they talked to but he wasn't there. "Hello there, I hope you don't mind Lucky he loves people. So if I let him he'd probably run up to you and want to be petted or something. Are you new around here?" He asked curiously since he didn't think that he had saw the girl around town before. Of course, he'd been really busy lately so she could have moved here two weeks ago and this could be the first time that he saw her. Of course he heard about new people moving to the town so most likely she was either fairly new or people just didn't know that a new person was in town yet. That probably wasn't the case though since news like that tended to spread like wildfire. Just like people had known that he had broken up with his most recent girlfriend about an hour after they had ended it.
He reached down and ran his hand through the dogs short fur and watched as the dogs tail wagged. He should have brought a ball with him to throw since he knew that the dog would probably want to play. Of course if he let him wander around he'd end up running back to him with a stick or something. It was then that he realized that he hadn't introduced himself to this girl. If his dad was with him then he'd say something about it but it wasn't like this was a formal meeting or something anyway. "By the way I'm Jordan and I do believe that I already told you Lucky's name. He's more of a puppy than anything, trust me." He said and then smiled at the girl before running his hand through the dogs fur again. He'd just given him a bath the day before after the dog had been in the woods running around and came back really muddy. He had known that his mother wouldn't want a muddy dog running around in the house so once he had gotten home the dog had went straight into the bathtub. Sure he probably could have taken him to the lake and let him swim around but he hadn't thought of that.

Helena was glad that the guy had not completely shunned her, waved back and kept on walking past her or anything like that. He had actually stopped in front of her and talked. Maybe there was hope for this little town yet, since the first person she had met had assaulted her and the second one was completely drunk. Come to think of it... Maybe the first one was too..? Anyways, Helena saw the boy's lips move and wondered if he had been talking to her. Or maybe- Oh no, he was a park lunitic as well, wasn't he? One of those weird guys that gets drunk, mumbles to himself and then hits on her. The last time that had happened, she had gotten raped and there was no way that was going to happen again. She had been so protective of herself recently; she had no idea what kind of people were at this place and she didn't have anybody but her watching her back..
As the guy spoke to her and got closer, Helena realized that he was.. Well he was a mess. There isn't really a nice way to say that. But on the bright side, his dog was cute =). No Helena didn't mind dogs. She had had one when she was younger, and planned on getting one once she found a place to stay. Maybe that would tie into the entire 'best friend' thing. You've seen on the telly when people are so close to one another that they end up living together and their parents don't mind and- Ugh its a wonderful thing I tell you. If only one of my best friends would house me... "No of course I don't mind your dog, what kind is it?" Helena asked, her english accent thick and lingering in the air. She surely hoped that the guy could understand what she was saying, some people really couldn't.
"Yeah actually I am new around here. What tipped you off, my deer-caught-in-a-headlight mentality?" Helena joked, feeling bad for the kid. Her accent was SO strong, how would he be able to know what she was saying? Helena bent down and petted the dog as well, glad that he or she didn't smell like wet dog or dirty dog. She absolutely hated that, even though she could never hate a dog that had that smell. "I'm Helena.. Nice to meet you." The teenager said with a bright smile, wondering where she would stay in his house. Ugh don't be silly, you're not allowed in the kids house and even if you were you don't even know his last name.. He was really glad that she didn't mind Lucky and the dog seemed really interested in her. Of course she was a new person to him and the dog always seemed to enjoy meeting new people. "Lucky is a Labrador Retriever and he's a little over a year old." He said and then looked around for a moment before looking back at the dog. The girls accent did tell him that she was new and it also told him that she was from England. He really hadn't met anybody from there before of course it wasn't like there was bunch of people coming here from Europe. Sure the school was popular but it wasn't like it was known worldwide. Actually when he'd been living in Minnesota he'd never heard of it before until he had looked it up. He watched as Lucky moved a little closer to the girl before sitting down. At least the dog wasn't trying to get her to play with him or something. Actually, Luck was being pretty good for once. He knew that if he let the dog off of his leash that he would probably take off at a run and circle the two of them a few times before settling down. Then the dog would find something to play with or something to be thrown.
"No, it wasn't that it's just that I haven't seen you around here before that's all." He said before brushing some sawdust off of his jeans, it was almost like glue since it was literally clinging to him. Once he got home again the first thing he'd do was switch cloths since he had managed to get most of it out of his hair and he didn't think that there was a lot of it in there. "I was working at my dads construction site for a couple of hours and that's why there's so much sawdust on me. I normally don't run around like this." He said knowing that she probably thought that he was weirdo for walking around with sawdust on him. He knew that when he had went home to get Lucky that he could have changed then but he hadn't been expecting to walk to the park. It was something that had just happened, and Lucky had kind of dragged him here too.
((Short post but I have to get ready for school now.))

Helena herself wished she had a dog, but her mother was horribly allergic to them. So until she left her mother and mustered up enough cash to buy this dog, Helena would be dogless. But that doesn't mean she couldn't chill out with this random guy's dog, does it? "My old friend used to have a lab, they're one of the smartest breeds of dogs around." Helena said, dreading her english accent once again. Obviously the guy didn't mind it much since he hadn't walked away yet. Somehow that made Helena feel better about it; and hey, maybe she would find someone around town with the same accent as her. But then of course she wouldn't feel like the only girl in town who came from England... Meh, I guess with Helena nothing will ever satisfy her 100 percent.
"Liar." Helena joked, before smiling to let him know she wasn't serious. She believed him, and pretty much expected the answer she got from him. People who have been in a certain place for a long while notice the people who seemed new, or who they hadn't seen around town at all. "Well that makes sense; I was wondering why it looked like you were just attacked by wood." Helena said, watching him dust some of the sawdust off of his person. So now she also knew that he worked. She didn't work, because she was almost sure that no one would want some lady who no one could understand working for them. Helena liked a guy who did his work... Well not like like THAT but. Er.
OOC. Ewwww too short. =/

He knew that she was right about Labs being one of the smartest breeds but sometimes Lucky tried his patience. Like when he'd let the dog run and he wouldn't come back and when he got within ten feet of Lucky he'd just run off again. If only the dog would listen to him more of course he knew that it was probably due to his sister that the dog didn't listen too well since she let the dog get away with way too much. Of course he knew that Lucky was naturally stubborn too and that the dog liked to get his way. "Yes, they are pretty smart dogs. I guess that you could say that Lucky's smart since he knows who to beg to if he wants something. But he's also a very stubborn dog and doesn't give in to things very easily. Also he does have selective hearing at times." He said and then reached down the pet Lucky, even though the dog could be a real pain sometimes he still loved him. If he didn't then he wouldn't have put up with the dog for as long as he had.
Well, at least this girl liked to joke that was a good thing. He listened to what she said about getting into a fight with wood and she was right about that. He brushed some more sawdust off of his jeans and in the process some it landed on Lucky's nose and the dog let out a sneeze before shaking. Apparently the dog didn't like sawdust on him either or perhaps it had just tickled when it landed on his nose. "I've been living here for about two years now so if you want a grand tour of the town I could probably take you on one. I've got the time, that is if you don't mind being seen with somebody who looks like they got into a battle with trees. Of course, people in town know that I work at my dad's construction site so it's not like people would wonder what the heck happened or anything." He said and then bent down to unclip Lucky from his leash. Amazing the dog didn't take off and actually moved closer to where the girl was.
"So, if you don't mind me asking do you live in the dorms here or somewhere else? Since I'm supposed to be fixing some dorms up tomorrow to make them look pretty." He asked before checking his watch, Brenden wasn't expecting him to get off work for a few more hours now so he had time to kill. If she'd just gotten here then he wouldn't mind showing her around the dorms. He didn't live there but he was there enough, besides the dorms were co-ed so it wasn't like he'd be the only male around.

The way Jordan had described his dog, it sounded exactly like teenagers. You know how they have selective hearing, didn't listen unless it was a praise or something about how much money their parents had to spend. Teenager girls knew how to work things so that they got exactly what they wanted between their parents. Maybe the guy's puppy was actually a teenager in the making! It could be, I'm not oh so insane for thinking that now am I? Helena could understand how the guy could love the puppy though- I mean she knew how it was to have a pet. She had actually hated her dog when she had first gotten it. But then once she had to get rid of it a few years later due to her mother's allergies, Helena found it harder than it would have been earlier to let go of her. The dog, not her mother. Well anyways, she had loved the dog with her life, and she had had to give it up, but she had gotten over it.
"Your dog actually kind of sounds like a human teenager.. Or am I the only one who connected the two?" Helena commented, not feeling at all foolish for connecting them. Maybe she just thought differently than other people. These things happen you know. "A tour of the town would be wonderful." Helena said honestly, bending down once again to pet the dog. She felt parts of the slashed up wood on her arm and brushed it off. "Ah, its contageous." Helena said with mock panic. She stood up and laughed as she continued brushing it off. "I wouldn't mind being caught with you, don't worry. And this has to be a small town for everyone to know where you work." Helena said with a barely audible note of curiousity in her voice.
You know what they say, curiosity killed the cat. Helena's mother had told her that all the time when she was younger, which was why she never really inquired about things. To this day she did that, strange enough. Hmm, come to think of it, Helena was a bit of an odd child because of the things involving her parents earlier in her life. oO. Snapping back to reality and out of her little dream world, Helena answered Jordan once again. She should really listen more, but she was stuck in memory mode for the rest of the day. "I don't live in the dorms, I live with my parents. But you can show me those too, if you want to." Helena replied, almost glad that she didn't live in the dorms. It seemed too much like college, and Helena wasn't sure if she was quite ready for it just yet. Although she would be going next year, maybe she just wanted to hang onto being a little girl for as long as she could- and if that meant living with her parents for the rest of her life.. Well that wouldn't happen.

Now that he thought about it Lucky kind of did sound like a teenager. He certainly did act like teenagers did at times. Although he wasn't really selective about who was allowed to pet him since the dog loved people. Of course he knew that some people were like that to and needed attention from everybody. "Yes, I guess that he is like one in a way of course it's not like he only likes certain people though. Since he loves attention from people." He said and then felt Lucky's tail hit his leg as the dog rapidly wagged his tail. That dogs tail did hurt when he was wagging it that fast. He moved a little to Lucky's right so that he dog wasn't about to hit him with his tail anymore. It was hard to believe that the dog was only a year old it seemed like it was only yesterday that his dad had brought the very tiny Lucky home. Now the dog was a little on the large side and wasn't that small puppy who followed everybody around anymore.
"Alright then, and thank you since you have saved me from going back home and being bored. I'll even let you walk Lucky if you feel like it. He doesn't drag you around or anything while you're walking him." He said and then listened to what she said about the sawdust being contagious. He laughed slightly, at least this girl was fun to be around and wasn't one of those plain people who didn't really say anything funny or did anything that was fun. He couldn't stand people like that, they were not any fun to be around. Since they just wanted to do the same old thing. She was right though, everybody in the town knew that he worked a lot during the summer. Of course most people probably only knew that because he worked at their homes, or future homes. Still, his dad had some exclusive contract or something with the school and they were in charge of repairing things for the school. He didn't really understand how that whole deal had came about.
"Well, I'll include the dorms in on our little tour then. They're not that far from the school actually and are on the school's property. The cool thing is that if you're on one of the upper levels you can see some of the sports fields." He said and then clipped Lucky back onto his leash before the dog decided that he wanted to run off. Since he knew that if the dog took off that it would take a good ten minutes to catch him. It wasn't that Lucky was that much faster then he was it was just that the dog would suddenly turn or take off running right when he thought that he had him cornered. It was fun watching his sister try to catch him though since she would get so tired of chasing the dog around that she'd make him go and catch the dog. Most of the time, the dog would come running up to him and then look at him as if to ask what he had done wrong. But that wasn't always the case.

It was a kind of odd thing to figure out, that dogs were actually closer realitives to humans than humans would think. Helena had never thought about it that way, which was probably why it was so strange to her to find this out. She secretly wondered if Jordan knew that his dog had so many humanlike traits, or if he had just found out too..? Well anyways, Helena nodded as she stuffed her ipod into her pocket. She had almost forgotten that it was still in her hand. Well it was better that it was in her hand then on the ground where she would probably never think to look in case she lost it. Nanos are extremely easy to lose, and very hard to find. Take it from a messy person..
"Well when I'm around, no one is ever bored." Helena said with mock heroicy... If thats a word, that is. It was kind of true though, no one ever seemed all that bored when she was around, but there was also the possibility that Helena was too busy doing her own thing to notice someone elses boredness. That had happened to her many times before at parties she had hosted, and even sleepovers. She got caught up in something and didn't even think to make sure her guests were having a good time. "Ah great, lemme have him." Helena said, sticking out her hand for the leash. This was pretty much the closest she would get to having a dog, that is until she finally moved away from her mother and her allergies. But for the time being, she was sure that Jordan wouldn't mind her borrowing the dog. And anyways, he was right there. It wasn't like she could steal Lucky..
Her purse wasn't big enough, and she wasn't Paris Hilton. "Bleck, don't even say school around me. That place is starting to get a bit old." Helena said honestly. She wished that she could say that she loved school, that she went there for more reasons than to hang out with her friends and that she was glad she didn't live in Africa or something where they couldn't even afford a few books, but Helena wasn't one of those fortunate people who could say that. In her opinion, school was a waste of time and she would much rather be writing a book or visiting England. "As long as we don't have to go in, I'll promise not to scream and attack something." She joked, watching Jordan put Lucky back onto the leash. He seemed to be a good dog, but of course Helena had only spent about five minutes or so with him. What would she know at this point?

Now if that was true then, he'd have to remember to find this girl whenever he was bored and he couldn't find anybody else to be around. Since he couldn't stand being bored and usually ended up doing something really odd if he ever was completely bored. Some of those things included counting up the number of red M&M's there were and then comparing how many there were from the number of the different colors. Yes, he'd been very bored at that time and did he normally do things like that? No, and actually that had been the very first time that he actually counted candy up in some way. "Well, remind me to find you if I'm ever really bored then. Unless you'd enjoy seeing me count random things up." He said and then held the leash out to her, he knew that she'd probably enjoy walking the dog. Since he was very good when he was on a leash, that was one good thing about Lucky. Besides, it seemed like Helena liked Lucky.
"Don't worry we don't have to do anything that you don't want to. Besides, I'll probably see enough of the insides of the dorms during the next few days that I'll be fed up with them for awhile." It was true, since he knew that he'd probably end up spending at least six hours a day working there for three days or more. Plus, he spent time there hanging out with friends that lived there. He basically had memorized the basic dorm layout since each dorm was basically the same. Although he knew that the school made a few things different about each room. Not all of them were painted the same color. He could only imagine how much of a pain that had been for the people who had originally built the dorms. Since according to Brenden they'd been built about four years ago and he'd only lived up here for two years. He did have to give the builder some credit since everything seemed very good and they certainly didn't cut any corners. Of course he knew that the school probably hadn't allowed them to do that.
"So, how about we start. First, we can go uptown and see some of the things. Then we can make our way back downtown and I can take Lucky back home with me. Since my parents wouldn't be very happy if I just gave the dog away." He said and then took a few steps away and then looked at Lucky. He could see that the dog wanted to get closer to him but was still standing by Helena since he knew enough not to try and pull his way over to something. There was no way that he'd be able to just give up Lucky. The dog was too much fun and things were never the same.

Helena laughed, seeing as she most probably WOULD remember to tell him to call her whenever he got bored. Sometimes Helena took people a bit too seriously, so when they kiddingly said something, Helena actually took them seriously. For example, a few years back one of Helena's old boyfriends had said to her 'The next time I look at a girl like you are accusing me of, just step on me really hard.' Needless to say, that actually happened. He had been kidding, and in fact he hadn't believed her about looking at girls in THAT way, but that's what he got for screwing with Helena.
"I'll do that, I promise." Helena said with a grin, taking the leash that he held out to her. She was almost like a four year old with a love of sugar in a free candy shop sometimes, but some say that's what they liked the best about Helena. She had so many personalities it seemed, and only about .002% of her personalities was 'rude or upright female dog'. "I really kind of would mind watching you count things. That would probably make even ME bored, and I hardly ever get bored." Helena said, nodding a bit as she walked carefully. She didn't want to walk to slow or something and flipping strangle the guy's dog, did she?
Helena figured that if anybody had walked past Jordan as he said that, they would have probably thought something a bit dirty. I mean, he would probably see enough of the insides of the dorms during the next week? It sounded more like he was going to go into every dorm, including the male dorms, and get some. But Helena knew exactly what he meant because well, they were just having a conversation about it and were still carrying on that conversation. oO Helena is blonde but she isn't stupid or anything. "Well then I guess we can skip the dorms, if you want to that is." Helena said, not really caring where they went at this point. Wherever would be fine. "I really don't mind where we go." She added after a few seconds of silence. Unlike most of her friends, Helena didn't mind silences. They tended to call them 'awkward silences' while Helena just thought of them as time to think. I mean, relationships with people aren't all about talking are they? They're about good and bad, silent and loud. Well that was HER opinion, at least.
From uptown to downtown? "Sounds like a plan, Stan." Helena replied, sure that she probably wouldn't know the difference between uptown and downtown. Maybe they were very obviously different..? Otherwise Helena would just be along for the ride, not trying to assume which one was which or anything. Helena didn't mind him taking the dog back either, because Lucky could very well give her mother some type of allergic reaction, and Helena liked her mum more than any dog.. Sorry Lucky.
