[[You're just jealous cause we're young and in love]] Maddie let Galen hold her and she sank into his embrace, pushing her face into his chest and trying not to cry. She caught her breath after a few moments of hyperventilating, and listened to Galen's soft, carefully-chosen words. She felt safe in Galen's arms; he was so sure of everything. He seemed confident and headstrong. But, was he serious about this? It wasn't just a fluke to make her "get what she deserved" and then ditch her? Wait... what was she thinking? This was Galen, for God's sake! If he had been with her this long, he wouldn't leave. Maddie stared into Galen's blue eyes and when he mentioned a baby, her breath caught in her throat and the room around them spinned. She couldn't be pregnant. Maddie shook her head at Galen, her curls bouncing from side to side. She blinked back more tears and then looked up at the ceiling, thinking and also trying to get her salty tears to slide back into her eyes. "Galen," she moaned, sniffing and dropped her head to gaze at him. She wiped at her chocolate eyes, wishing that she could take last night back. "I can't be pregnant. I'm only seventeen." Maddie moved her gaze from Galen's trusting face to the floor. "What will my parents think? They don't even know that I've been seeing you. What if they disown me?" Her gaze lifted back to Galen when she spoke the last words. Maddie stepped toward Galen and wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her small body against his strong one. Maddie pulled away from him, kissing him on the cheek softly. She then took his hand and pressed it against her stomach. She kept her hand over his and looked into his face, smiling softly. Maddie had a sudden change of heart and her confidence soared. "We made a baby," she whispered.

[Message in the bottle]
Galen nodded, unable to speak. His throat was tight, and he felt tears leaking out of his closed eyelids. No, no. He couldn't cry. Where was the manliness he felt the need to keep up? But he caved into his overwhelming emotions, and let silvery wetness stream down his face, cascading onto his white undershirt and leaving drops all over his heart shaped face. His eyes were red, his eyelids puffy when he broke away from her. His face was tear stricken, and wet bangs stuck to his forehead, the tears acting as paste. He inhaled, slowly and deeply, swallowing the remaining tears that threatened to overwhelm him once more. A few more calming breaths, and Galen spoke, his voice shaking slightly. "Maddie, we're going to get through this." His voice shook, threatening to break once more. "I'm sorry," he said, and pressed his fingers against his eyelids, as more tears overcame him. Galen sighed, lost in thought for a moment. What exactly was this rush of emotions that had overtaken his common sense? It seemed to have taken the control of his entire being, gripped his soul like an iron hand that wouldn't let go. Yet the heaviness in his heart seemed to have lifted with the sudden release of emotion. It seemed that somehow, his cry had released some of the guilt he felt for the whole ordeal. And it wasn't his fault. It wasn't her fault either. Pointing blame would get them nowhere in this ordeal. But did it have to be an ordeal? Why did the fact that Maddie was having a child so negative? Couldn't they get through this? Once more Galen said, "We can get through this," but now the tone was more determined, and the puffiness in his eyes had decreased slightly. Galen swallowed, and watched Maddie with red eyes. He ran his eyes over her high cheekbones, chocolate eyes with red tinged about them. Her mess of chestnut colored hair, sandy blond highlights sticking out with irregularity that Maddie could just pull off. Her soft face was still slightly hard, and her pale skin was slightly peaked, but underneath all the redness, and the sadness that remained on her face, a crooked smile had appeared. Suddenly she seemed proud of their 'achievement', rather than abashed at her age. "And you'll be 18 when you have the baby," he said, in a slight attempt to be helpful and to bring back his reassuring self.

Maddie felt her heart ripped at the edges as she saw Galen cry. It wasn't like him... yet, she didn't feel awkward about it. She reached up her hand and gently cupped his smooth, shaven face in her small hand. She moved her thumb across the bottom on his eye, wiping away his tears. She wanted to be close to him - now more than ever. But, he only kept pushing her away and backing off. She wanted to know what was really on his mind; from the looks of it, he was scared. And possibly something else. But, Maddie couldn't figure out what it was. She wanted to talk to him, but Galen backed away and locked her out.
"I know everything will be okay," she whispered, smiling and trying to encourage him. "You don't seem to believe that yourself." Stepping back, Maddie folded her arms over her chest and stared at him, frowning. She wanted to know what as on his mind. He was being so emotional. At first, it was cute and a breaking point to their relationship. Now, Maddie was just freaked out and it got weirder each passing second. Galen had never really held back from her. What was wrong now?
Swallowing, Maddie looked away Galen and thought about their options; thought about what Galen might be thinking. She looked back to him. "There's no saying that I'm pregnant, anway," she reminded, cold despite the warm RV. "If I am pregnant," she began a short while later, "do you... do you want to... abort the baby?" She choked on the tightening, tingling sensation rising in her throat. She looked down and cleared her throat, avoiding Galen's eyes.

[We've got all night to make it glow]
Galen shook his head, his throat tight. There was no way he could put Maddie through the emotional damage that abortion caused. He made an effort to smile, but only managed a nervous sort of grimace. He was relatively sure of one fact. Whatever Maddie needed. Whenever she needed him to help her, he would be there. They would be spouses. There whenever or wherever the other wanted to be together. This sort of determination made Galen relatively sure the two would make it through. Perhaps even have another child when they were more prepared.
He smiled again, this time confident. "No, no, we can't be doing that can we? We're going to stick this out together. I know we can." Once again the careful determination stuck out in his voice, and a grin was creeping up his face. This was not the nervously confident grin that he'd worn before, but now it was sure of itself, as if suddenly Galen had realized something he hadn't before. Feeling the need to prove his newfound confidence, he spoke once more. "Okay, Maddie, here's what were going to do. First of all, we're not going to loose our heads. We've both done enough of that today, and I think it's time to put a stop to that. Secondly, we have a wedding to plan, but that can wait, at least for a little while. Really, the wedding is the least of our worries right now. What else... oh yes, about this baby. Like I said, I think we can do this. My family can do a lot to help. I dunno so much about yours... you get the point." He sighed, and ran a hand through his tear laden hair, though they were no longer wetting his face. He realized it was easier to think of the whole deal if he looked at it as logically as possibly. Technically he would be 20 by the time the baby was born, Maddie 18. So, that wasn't particularly bad. The last year of high school would be slightly difficult but the two could make it together, Galen assured himself. Suddenly he felt a great deal better about this. He was good at this. Looking at things rationally than figuring them out, yes this was something he could handle. With a reassuring smile, he shoveled several eggs onto his plate, and began eating them calmly.

[[I'm so tired of being here; suppressed by all my childish fears]] While Galen ate slowly, Maddie stayed standing up, her arms folded over her chest, protecting herself. She lifted her head and watched Galen for a moment. Maddie had listened to Galen's words carefully, taking in each word and thinking about them. If they got married and ended up not being pregnant, would that change things? Were they getting married only because they thought Maddie was the pregnant? No; Galen had asked her before they had had unprotected sex. "My parents will be pissed," Maddie told Galen in a small, quiet voice. She looked down and took a deep breath, feeling so small and insecure once more. Looking back up at Galen, Maddie tilted her head to the side and frowned. "I can't promise that they'll be happy about us getting married." She scoffed, shook her head and rolled her eyes as she spoke. "Chances are, they'll disown me. I wouldn't advise telling them about the pregnancy until we're actually sure. That way they can get a restraining order against me." She forced a smile. Maddie moved toward the table and sat down, staring Galen in the face. She looked down at his plate and bit her lip, wanting to steal a piece of his egg, but knowing that she'd throw up. Hangover food was such a delicate degree to master! "Oh shit!" Maddie breathed. "Kelly!" She lifted her brown eyes to Galen's blue eyes. Kelly, her younger sister. How was she going to break the news to Kelly?
