While creating a character, please be sure to read the rules, even if you have before. Remember, they're subject to change, as well as the password.
If you end up breaking a rule, or asking about the password, this really stresses out the staff members because they can't help you out with every little detail. They have other important things to do. You need to learn how to find out things on your own. Search around the rules, and the announcements to learn things about this RPG.
Also, don't bug the staff about updating something or with a question. They have personal lives, too (perhaps you don't and that is why you assume they don't?), and when they finally get on the computer they are willing to help you, but they also want to enjoy some time role playing with y'all and each other.
If something needs updated tell only one staff member once. Preferably not me. You're more likely to get a response from a more active staff member. I come online every once in a while to help out, and to work on the look & feel of LHS.
If you have a question there's a proper board for that. A staff member, or even a regular member will come along and help if they know the answer. But be patient, and do not double-post (this is annoying, impatient, and spamming; thus, against the rules).
Here's a more elaborate description about how annoying it is to be asked about where to find the password while creating a character. The thread with the form tells you where to find it. And the thread it's located in (and don't tell me it's not, I just updated the rules and I saw it for myself) has it in a very obvious space. You should be happy of its location. I usually hide the password in my RPGs so I know people were paying attention thoroughly. Since it's in such an easy spot to find, not only is it annoying, it makes everyone wonder what kind of idiot you are.
Megan has been playing it easy with all of you, but because of a few rude and intolerable people who don't take the time to read all the rules, and to create great characters and posts, you're really bouncing off her nerves hither and tither (as well with the rest of the staff members). They're nice enough to let it slide most of the time. You shouldn't disrespect them, they're working their butts off to keep this site great, and some of you are being ungrateful asses (pardon my French).
It may not seem like they're doing much to some of you, but I can see behind the scenes (as I am a staff member as well) and everyday they're working on keeping LHS a very nice place to be. The warning system that I wrote up for Megan here is not strict at all. It's very easy to find a loophole. After this thread, if I still see people breaking countless rules, I will sow up quite a bit of those loopholes.
And, by the way, if you're continuously doing something the staff members are asking you not to do, then you're on my list! And trust me, you don't want to be on my list if you enjoy LHS. If you don't enjoy LHS, you're a wacko, and you don't even need to be role playing anywhere. This is one of the best RPGs ever!
A few things not to do:
1.double-post (basically, don't post more than once in a row)
2.do no post or pm any type of spam (this means asking someone through PM to role play with you, send an advertisement, or to state you're bored, etc. If someone wants to role play, they'll post somewhere. If you're buddy buddy with a member, it's OK, because most likely you're not annoying them. If they asking you to stop; however, you must stop.) If anyone does this to you, report them to a staff member. (A "Report to Admin" button may come soon. )
3.Do not disrespect staff members or any member for that matter
4.Do not take any part of someone else's plot. From their form, pictures, title, detail, words, lyrics, etc. You may kindly ask the owner if you may use it, but if they say no, it means no. (For those who've had any part of their plot stolen, or do not want people to steal any part of their plot, place "-Protected by Storming Dance" (in bold at the very end) in them. If someone takes it, I'll do some research and punish the deserving party. Placing any stolen piece of a plot on another site will not stop me!
5.Do not ever ignore any rule. I've seen some people not following them for whatever dumb reason they had in their head. It's not that LHS is full of mean people, it's just starting to get crowded with people who are just too lazy to read all of the rules and to follow them.
A few things to do:
1.make every post original. Meaning, do not copy any piece of another post into a new one. (An exception would be something like a flashback)
2.Follow all rules (including this thread)
3.Read up on the announcements and make sure you don't miss anything new!
This long thread of information will be updated upon, so be sure to check up on it!
