Character Information:
Character's Name: Nathan Meyer Gaudete
Age: 33
Grade: Math Teacher?
Height: 6'1
Hair color: Nate's hair is mouse brown and cut close to his head. He gives very little thought or worry to his hair, and it lays most naturally. Cowlicks litter the stuff, and he tends to ignore it. His hair is not the best aspect of his appearance. If anything, it is boring, and takes away from his overall appearance. It has been styled in many ways, yet most recently is left alone. Allow me to move on, as Nathan's hair is absolutely nothing to dwell on.
Eye color:
Nate's eyes are a deep emerald tone, often dark with concern. Only his eyes hint the horrid past he has put himself through, and yet they are often so joyous. He observes life through these eyes, and they are guarded, unable to portray emotion. Dark freckles litter his irises, covered only by long mouse colored lashes. They are angled upward slightly, and seem to speak for themselves. Although no emotion is spread through his eyes, they are most expressive, and when he does feel as if the feeling should take his entire face, they take a brilliant part in the whole deal. Again, there is not much to say in this, except for to caution that one may just be lost in the depths of Nate's eyes.

His Past
Nate is very happy go lucky sort of fellow. Although this was by no means always so, he is recently so happy to be who he is. He is a complete optimist, unable to see the negative side of situations. He enjoys life, and teaching, and is thankful for everything that has changed so recently. Nate makes a point of smiling a lot, and is the polite stranger that will hold a door open for a mother pushing a baby carriage, the kind of man whose happiness is contagious. In fact, it is almost impossible to let a smile drop off your face in his presence. Always humorous, it is extremely difficult to get Nathan mad, and he is never for long. Perhaps this infectious happiness is some sort of compensation for his teenage years, when he was sullen and impossibly negative. He doesn't enjoy looking back at those days, and if one just glances, their impression would be a very happy guy who simply enjoys life.
Appearance(what do they usually wear, any scars etc.)
Nate enjoys looking good. He has to look put together, put his wardrobe is not in any way all suits. He wears sweaters and shirts with collars, mostly, and in almost completely sunny colors. Brilliant hues of blues and red make up most of his wardrobe. On the bottom half he tends to wear khakis or a pair of black jeans. He is not particularly picky about this, but let's his personality show in the clothing he chooses. Sometimes, this makes people accuse him of things, yet he is beyond such petty stereotypes and is extremely open to other's differences.
Nate's build is relatively average. He is not particularly muscled, but he does not sag in the gut either. He stands broad shouldered and tall, a smile usually on his heart shaped face. Nate has a single tattoo (though its a wonder he doesn't have more), a tree design on his shoulder. Though his ears are pierced several times, he rarely wears earrings with the exception of just a diamond stud on one ear. All in all, he projects an image of cool confidence, even if he is a little bit deeper than the happy go lucky man he first appears to be.
History:
On September 7th, 1974 Sandra and Tyler Gaudete brought home a green eyed baby boy from the hospital. This baby boy grew up quickly. He was a precocious little two year old, speaking almost fluently, and extremely comfortable with his environment. Growing up in Maine, with mostly the sea shore for company, he was always a rather quiet child with a big smile that almost never left his face. His parents were very pleased with him, and they loved their little Natey boy. Nate was an only child. Perhaps it would've turned out differently if he'd had brothers and sisters to socialize more, but why have another child when the one that was born was perfect? This was his parents logic. I mean, you can't blame them for doting on their pint sized son. He was unusually close to his parents, and the first day of kindergarten was painful for the whole lot.
In 1982 the Gaudete family moved from Maine to Wisconsin, where Nate's parents expected him to flourish in the wider community. However, Nate withdrew. He felt as if he didn't fit in, and by 1984 he was a complete outcast. He swung by himself in the playground in elementary school, the wide eyed boy, simply studying the world around him. His parents were worried. What had happened to the outgoing little boy they had come to expect Nate to be? Yet it was inevitable there was a change going on in Nate's life. He seemed to think he was different. Everybody made fun of him for one reason or another. Whether it be his attitude, or the fact that he was always by himself, Nate was an outsider.
At the end of eigth grade, Nate finally found a group that would accept him. He became a heavy drinker, smoker and found himself getting farther and farther away from the image Nate's parents wanted him to have. Meanwhile, Sandra and Tyler disassociated themselves with their unruly son. They were unsure how this had happened. Perhaps it was their determined ignorance of his exclusion, or the fact that he had not learned to properly socialize as a young child. But parents and son hardly spoke a word to each other, their relationship strained. Nate often came home high, or with a heavy hangover, and finally it got to be too much. After wind got to Nate's parents that in his senior year, he had actually raped a girl, they put their foot down.
An intervention was arranged, and Nate was put into rehab. He spent 8 long months there, learning to work through his problems, and slowly turning into the happy person he once was. He emerged a changed man, 19 years old, a high school drop out. He was determined to get his high school diploma, determined to finish the dream his parents had set for him. He was so thankful to have a second chance to prove himself, a second chance to speak to all those he hurt so badly. So here he is. 33, almost ready to speak to Jessica and Isabella again. He has a daughter whom he has never met, the result of one of his rampages, but he wants to be a father to her. He has switched his life around, and his happiness is so complete. He is truly thankful to his family for making him stop, and they retain a close relationship today.
Nathan got his GED when he turned 21, still determinedly sober and pleased to be alive. He moved from Minnesota back to Wisconsin, determined to take another stab at fitting in. In 1995 Nathan finished classes at the local Community College, and applied for a student teaching job. He was declined several times, but finally was accepted at Lakeland High, where he quickly reaclimated himself to the school that destroyed him. He spent hours after work searching the schools, the parts that he had never seen before in his drunken days. He learned to love the school, and wondered why he had made it such a bad place for himself. He also loved the subject he helped teach. Math was so simple, so straight forward compared to well... life. It was something he could turn to when he felt as if he could relapse into smoking, or something else displeasing had happened that day.
After being a student teacher in various classrooms for 4 years, in 1999 Nate left Lakeland for Maine. He stayed in his parents house, thanking them over and over again for what they had done. He knew he had initially been angry at his parents, even physically wanting to hurt them, but he knew they'd done it because they cared about him. He also knew few rehab cases turned out so well, and he was thankful the fact that he was actually happy as well. During the five years he spent in Maine, he got his flight instructors license and flew a small charter around New England. He enjoyed this for a while, but in 2004 he left for Lakeland again.
He moved into a small apartment and returned to the local high school, the place that had taught him to love education again. He got a job as a math teacher, and many remembered him as the good mannered, humorous student teacher that had been there five years previously. He got along with the students, because he, more than anyone understands the problems they go through. Nate is still teaching Math at Lakeland High today, and certainly doesn't plan to leave any time soon.
