Character's Name:Sebastian Cromwell
Age:15
Grade:Sophomore
Clique:Klug
Height:6 feet even
Other Family Members:Just his mother and father. He's an only child.
PersonalityThe first thing that should be noted about him, because it affects every aspect off his personality, is that he is autistic. He does not have the head banging, hand flapping type of autism. He is very high functioning and can survive in society fairly well.
He is very quite and incredibly socially awkward. He is literal and concrete in his thinking, and interprets everything that everyone says as such. This means there is a sort of language barrier between him and the majority of society. Words are specific for him, very specific. Anger and frustration are very different and joy is not the same as happiness. A ball is different then a sphere. He is very logical and rationalizes things out according to what he knows about the world, the truths and the facts. facts are very important to him and opinions are almost nonexistent, particularly other people’s opinions.
He is a very clam and passive person. He is silent most of the time and spends most of his time around people observing them. Observation is something he is good at and he has an extraordinary memory. He just sees the world differently. Different things pop into his mind, different things come to his attention. He also has almost no ability to filter things out. All day he feels his socks on his feet, feels the change in the ground beneath his feet when he goes form dirt to grass to concrete. He hears things most people don't notice, and his sense of touch is very sensitive. It can get very overwhelming at times and he seeks out places that are quite or solitary. Needless to say that sometimes gets hard in high school, but he manages. Every so often he'll have a mental breakdown (maybe once or twice a year now that he's older)and curl up into a ball, rocking and groaning, trying to get everything out of his head. His therapist is working with him on that though.
He is a very intelligent boy and is capable of doing very advanced work for a 15 year old in math, science and history. He is good at those subjects for several reasons. They are literal, logical subjects that his thought process can be easily applied to. His memory skills help him greatly in history class which is all about dates anyway. He doesn’t forget things, he just doesn't. And he reads abnormally fast. Math is easy for him because numbers never change and numbers are very easy for him. Physics is the best science for him, followed by chemistry, because math is so important for both those subjects. he does good with logic and rational.
English is a very bad subject for him. He's had to take remedial classes since he was very small, which is ironic considering he reads much faster then a normal kid and had a very large vocabulary. English is a lot of interpretation and he is very bad at interpretation. For the same reason he is very bad at all sorts of arts classes. His writing style is rather odd as well because he tends to write like he speaks and his speech pattern is rather odd.
He is not a very active person. He reads most of the time (textbooks and nonfiction usually) and spends more time indoors then out. He doesn't spend much time outside and doesn't exercise much besides walking. It doesn't appeal to him. He is slightly clumsy and not terribly coordinated.
He is a very trusting person and a very trustworthy person. He is not capable of lying, he just isn’t and because he doesn't lie he assumes that other people don’t lie. It doesn't occur to him that people would say something that isn't true. He trusts what people say. He is a very loyal person and will, if asked, keep a secret or anything else really.
In general he is very uncomfortable around people. He isn't a social person and he really dislikes being touched. Even causal little touches, hands on his shoulder, agitate him. Typically he'll just freeze, retreat into his own mind until he is left alone. He isn't a violent person at all. It is hard for him to get attached to people though when he does make friends he is a friend for ever. When he gets emotional attached to someone he stays attached for ever.
At 15 he has never kissed a girl (or boy, he is very sexually ambiguous). He never had a girlfriend (or boyfriend) and never really thought about having one.
AppearanceHe is a very skinny child for his height and his complexion is rather pale. He spends enough time outside that he doesn’t look completely like a vampire, but he is still pale. His face is thin and almost gaunt, with sharp features. His nose is slightly pointed, his cheek bones prominent. His eyes are a little sunk into his face. They are blue and pretty empty of emotion. His hair is dark brown and very curly.
He is all skin and bones, knees and elbows. His bones stick out and the fact that he wears clothes a little tighter then normal for a boy doesn't help much. He doesn’t wear name brands and his clothes are typically darker colors like blue and black and gray. They are his favorite colors. His fingers are long and bony like the rest of him and almost like spiders. He looks rather awkward just standing there, but that is just the way he is.
He has burn scars on his forearms to just past his elbows. They are shinny and still pinkish even though they are years old. He had gotten the scars when he was a young boy trying to cook noodles on the stove. The instructions were not clear enough for the boy and boiling water and pasta ended up pouring all down his arms.
He isn't handsome but he has a certain bit of cuteness to him, even though he's so skinny and bony. Perhaps if he ate a little more, talked a little more, was a little less weird. But he is who he is.
History:He is the first and last child in his family. It never really occurred to him that his parents didn't want any more children because of him, because he was such a difficult child to care for. His parents figured out something was off with him when he was very little. He very rarely cried as an infant and did not like being picked up at all. When he got older he learned to read long before other children and his math skills were not far behind. He never interacted with children his own age, or anyone besides his parents really, and always preferred to stay home rather then going to the park.
Shortly after entering school his parents got him a therapist who he saw 3 times a week for an hour (he sees his therapist only once a week now). They talked to the school and set him up in normal classrooms with normal kids. He never fit in and was picked on constantly from the time he was 5 or so. When he got older it turned into real bullying and more then once he came home from school bruised or bloodied. It never occurred to him to fight back. He just stood there or froze or went limp or curled up into a ball. He was not a fighter.
Middle school was not a good time for him. He was still the social outcast and he made did not make friends easily at all. he did, in all his years of school, make a few very close friends, because even Sebastian appeals to some people. When he entered high school his parents decided to send him to Lakeland High so he could stay in the dorm. His therapist thought it was a good idea. He adapted rather well to the school, and he's generally been getting better lately.

It was a rather nice day to spend outside. It was not too hot and not very cold. The fall leaves were spread in a variety of colors all over the ground. They made slight crunching noises as Sebastian stepped on them, and the particular crunch sound varied with how many leaves were stepped on. Other people may not have noticed, but Sebastian noticed. He noticed a good deal many things, not the least of which was the sound the leaves made as he walked ion them.
The skinny sophomore was walking on one of the dirt paths that cut through the park. It was a rather busy day, which made sense because the weather was so pleasant. This didn’t occur to Sebastian, who was just pleased that the path itself lacked many people. He didn’t like crowds or large groups of people, which of course, made high school rather difficult at times. He sought the sanctuary of places like the park, where he could be away from big crowds.
He could smell the trees and the grass and he could hear the slight buzz of distant conversations. He felt the heat from the afternoon sun on his face, felt the slightest breeze on his skin. It was all very normal to him and not anywhere near where it would overwhelm him. He was dressed in dark blue jeans and a deep blue shirt, both a little tighter then would be considered normal. He had a dark green messenger bag slung over his shoulder that bumped again his right leg with every step. He had two books in there, along with a pack of tissues, three Band-Aids, 2 mechanical pencils and 2 pens (one blue one black. There was also his school id, 3 single dollar bills and 44 cents in change (a quarter, a nickel, a dime and four pennies) in the front pocket. He intended to read the books at one point in time today. One was a small chemistry text book, the other was a non fiction book about Jack the Ripper.
He made his way along the path, watching the ground mostly, watching the leaves stir slight from the breeze and from the little currents of air his feet made as he moved. His hands were pressed against his legs so he could feel the denim beneath his fingers. Eventually he came to a bench he typically sat on, near a rather large tree. he was not a botanist by any means, though he made a mental note to check out a book on botany from the library so he could identify this tree. he sat down on the bench slowly, meticulously and placed his hands on top of his legs. It was a comfort to him, to feel the fabric under his skin.
He spent several moments studying the tree in question though he did not zone out. Such a thing was rather impossible for this boy who could filter out very little of his surroundings. It was a constant onslaught on his senses. So he was aware of it when someone sat down next to him on the bench. He kept his eyes on the tree, studying the patter on the bark. he wasn’t rude or anything, he just wasn’t accustomed with starting conversations and it didn’t occur to him that it would be rude to ignore who ever was sitting next to him on the bench. They were not invading his space yet, so he was perfectly okay. Perfectly okay.
